Gou Fei (Chow Yun Fat} is a thief. He and his two friends decide to do a big job with one of his friend's cousins, Judge. A local loan shark tells Judge he'll give him extra money if he kills Gou Fei and his friends.
They steal the weapons that they're going to sell and Judge turns on them and kills one of Gou Fei's friends. Gou Fei goes on the run and Judge and his cousin, Sam Sei, chase after him. They catch up to Gou Fei and there's a huge shoot out. Sam Sei turns on Gou Fei and Judge blows up the house he's hiding in, killing a family except for a young girl, who is horribly burned.
They all think Gou Fei is dead. Sam Sei starts dating Mona, Gou Fei's dancer girlfriend. Gou Fei catches starts spying on them, and eventually comes close to killing Sam Sei, but can't bring himself to do it. Gou Fei goes to Sam Sei and gets him to help take the weapons from Judge.
This movie was excellent. It's just a great action movie with a really good story about a bunch of low lifes, some of which are worse than others. The gun fight scenes are awesome. There's a small amount of kung fu, too. Judge is openly gay, but not in a way where it's shoved down your throat, which is interesting to see in an action movie.
