I always underestimate this movie. In my head it's just Johnny Depp pitting people against each other, but it's not like that at all. I, perhaps, smoked too much weed the other times I watched this.
In reality it's Johnny Depp, as a CIA agent, hiring El Mariachi to protect the Mexican president from a coup. El gets a couple of his friends to help, one is Enrique Eglasias and the other is a drunk. The violence is outlandish at times, even compared to Desperado. This is truly a work of beauty and one of my favorites.
