Rigby Reardon (Steve Martin) takes on a when a beautiful woman (Rachel Ward) faints into his office. After adjusting her breasts, he begins attempting to figure out who killed her scientist/cheese maker father. After getting shot and drugged multiple times and falling in love with Rachel Ward, he finds himself on an island in South America, where everything begins to come together.
The movie features clips of classic film movies, and is a good parody of the film noir genre, although its pacing is far faster. This is classic Steve Martin. I love Steve Martin (I first typed just "Martin" but didn't want anybody to think I was talking about the Fox sitcom). I wish his movies today were the same caliber of goofy comedy that they were at the beginning of his career. Not that I've seen Cheaper by the Dozen of the Pink Panther remake (I love the original Pink Panther and Peter Sellers too much for that).
This would fit nicely on a shelf next to The Cheap Detective and Murder by Death, as well as the classic movies they parody. Even if you're not into film noirs, you could still enjoy this movie on a purely comedic level.
