IMDB
A woman buys her professor husband a TV set so he won't be bored while she's out of town. He soon finds himself living with a robotic TV set from the future. This futuristic robot is known as a Twonky, theorized to be a monitor for morality.
According to a review on IMDB, this movie was made because theaters were beginning to lose money due to the TV. They hired a radio guy to write it.
This movie plays out like a really goofy episode of the Twilight Zone. Hans Conried is great. He over-acts just enough to keep things interesting. This is a goofy 50s scifi movie that's worth checking out. I saw it on TCM, so the may show it occasionally.
