Piranha, originally in 3D, is a supercharged version of Jaws. Richard Dreyfuss even briefly plays his Jaws character before being eaten by piranhas. There are a lot of similarities, such as refusing to close the beach because of a profitable weekend. Yet, there are probably 10 times as many attacks/deaths. This is a pretty gory movie.
The cast of this movie is very odd. You have Elizabeth Shue and Adam Scott on a boat, Jerry O'Connell doing his best Joe Francis and hanging with Paul Scheer (his camera man)...on a boat and you have Ving Rhames killing piranhas with a motor he ripped off of a speedboat. It's a pretty fun and stupid movie, although the CGI kills some of the fun. It is worth a watch, but not worth going out of your way for.
