Set amidst the gang violence epidemic in Las Angeles during the height of gangsta rap. Predator shows up to take out the violent thugs and the brutalizing police officers trying to capture them. While this movie clearly would have been better set in New York, it is somewhat refreshing to see a movie not set in NY, even if it's set in LA.
Danny Glover plays a badass cop, who leads a group of cops to their slaughter via the Predator. When it gets down to a one-on-one fight between Predator and Glover, the odds improve in Glover's favor.
I knew this was going to be better than the original predator, as the actors are better (Bill Paxton, Gary Busey, the aforementioned Glover), and you cannot be much worse than the original. It isn't setting up a series of traps that mostly backfire, it's hunting the hunter (on both sides of the coin). The climax was pretty fun and lasted a good 20 minutes.
