Baron Munchausen interupts an inaccurate play of his own life, just as the Turks are blasting the shit out of the theater. He and a little girl set off on a fantastical adventure, that involves going to the moon, giants, and other such shit. They are on a quest to find Munchausen's old friends who can help them defeat the Turks.
There's a lot of movies like this-- people on a quest full of fantasy and monsters, giants and whathaveyou. This one is decent due to the direction of Terry Gilliam, but at the same time it suffers because of his unwillingness to edit his movie. The opening scene of the movie drags on forever. I remember looking at the DVD player and saying, "This fucker has only been on for 15 minutes and we're still not past the opening scene." Those 15 minutes could have easily become 5 minutes.
You should probably know something about me, though: I'm not a huge fan of fantasy movies. I don't know why, but I generally don't love them. Although there are a few that I like. This one doesn't fall into that category. It was overly long (thankfully not Lord of the Rings long) and pretty slow moving. I'm sure this movie has its fans.
5.5/10
