A group of people are connected through a tangle of affairs and a disc with sensitive information found in the women's locker room of a gym. Two employees of the gym (Frances McDormand and Brad Pitt) use the disc to attempt to get some money from its owner (John Malkovich). McDormand is angling for the money so she can get several kinds of plastic surgery and reinvent herself.
Malkovich is an alcoholic who was let go from his job. His wife is having an affair. The same man (George Clooney) she's having an affair with is sleeping with Frances McDormand.
Burn After Reading is a humorous mystery. I definitely didn't understand everything in my first viewing, but I really enjoyed it. The end was great, or possibly infuriorating. I loved it. The Coens are some of my favorite filmmakers and this movie sits well besides their others.
