IMDB

George Clooney plays Michael Clayton, a "fixer" for a law firm. He lost a lot of money when he invested in a bar as a safety net because of his brother. We never know exactly what went wrong with the bar, but it is implied that his brother is a drug addict. Since he has no money he can't walk away from the law firm, which he is clearly unhappy about.
U/North are facing a three billion dollar class action lawsuit and their lawyer, a friend of Clayton, goes off his meds and strips naked during a meeting with the other lawyers and some clients. Clayton is trying to get him back on his meds so he can win the case, but he refuses.
It's hard for me to explain what goes on in this movie beyond that. It's as much about Clayton's growth as a person as it is about uncovering a conspiracy. It's a character study movie with a slight twist of mystery, only we're clued into the mystery before Clayton.
I enjoyed this movie. It's very well directed and written. I know that some people (including my father) aren't a fan of Clooney's acting, but I felt he did an amazing job in this movie. The first time director, Tony Gilroy, did a superb job and I'm looking forward to seeing his next feature, Duplicity. There's not a lot of movies like this being made anymore. I'm not going to go into an anti-Hollywood tirade or anything, but admist the vast number of remakes and adaptations it's nice to see a completely original movie that isn't a cult movie.

Rating Scale Explanation

The rating scale is simple. 1 is the worst 10 is the best and 5 is mediocre. 5.5 or greater is a movie that I at least find enjoyable. You could also think of 5 as a zero and 1 as a negative 5. I feel like that sounds even more convoluted.
