The movie opens with the protagonist (Ben) and his girlfriend breaking up. He is an artist and since the break up he can't fall asleep. To spend the extra 8 hours of his day he gets a job working at a grocery store. He finds that everybody deals with the 8 hour shift in their own way, his way is to literally stop time. When he stops time sometimes he disrobes the ladies in the store and draws them, sometimes he pulls a Zach Morris and puts people in a different place. He becomes infatuated with a co-worker, almost to the point of obsession.
This is a very cute movie, but it has a certain raunchiness. I would say that it's a romantic comedy in the same vein as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but the director is better than Michel Gondry (in my opinion). The movie is charming and sweet, yet it has a certain bittersweetness to it.
