Gene Wilder is taking a train from LA to Chicago for his sister's wedding. He meets a young woman who is a secretary to a man who is writing a book on Rembrandt. The author has uncovered something that leads to his death, which Wilder sees while being intimate with the secretary. A chain of events leads to Wilder being thrown off the train (three times) and teamed up with a thief (Richard Pryor). They are determined to rescue the secretary (who is in danger) and solve the mystery of what exactly is going on.
This movie is simply great. There are many hilarious scenes, including a classic scene where Pryor applies shoe polish to Wilder and tries to teach him how to act black to slip by some police. This movie is beautifully directed and well-paced. It's a great action/mystery/comedy. I believe that this movie is supposed to be a satire of Hitchcock train movies (or at least Strangers on a Train), but I'd have no idea about that because I've never seen it. Look for a review of it coming soon.

Rating Scale Explanation

The rating scale is simple. 1 is the worst 10 is the best and 5 is mediocre. 5.5 or greater is a movie that I at least find enjoyable. You could also think of 5 as a zero and 1 as a negative 5. I feel like that sounds even more convoluted.
