IMDB
Best friends Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Chritina (Scarlett Johannson) travel to Barcelona to spend the summer. There they meet a playboy artist (Javier Bardem) who has recently split with his wife, Maria Elana (Penelope Cruz). The artist is trying to get Vicky and Christina to have a threesome with him.
Woody Allen makes another fantastic movie. This isn't his best movie since (fill in the blank yourself, depending on which movie critic you're reading a review from). This is just another great movie he's made in a long line of great movies. Scoop, Match Point, Anything Else, and to a lesser extent: Hollywood Ending, Curse of the Jade Scorpion, Small Time Crooks are all good. To act like Allen hasn't made a good movie "in a long time" is complete bullshit, and will surely be the same sentiment when I get around to watching Cassandra's Dream.
This movie is not a comedy, really. It's more of just a romantic movie with a few comedic elements thrown in here and there. The actors are all top notch and the scenery is very picture-esque.

I am 100% in agreement that Allen is one of the greatest film makers of all time. Of course some of his movies are better than others, and though I still haven't seen them all, i am confident he has yet to make a movie i have just flat out not liked.
this movie particularly got to me because of the particular attention to the lives of the artists. they're all crazy and eccentric and i loved it. my heart lept when penelope cruz came on-screen.....she's gorgeous (as are all the actors, but her particularly) and she's an awesome actress. she, selma hayek and angelina jolie are major draws to me - and for a surprise entrance......
i'm rambling. this movie is definitely a romantic semi-comedy but not so mushy you want to turn away in embarrassment.
