Roddy Piper stars as a drifter who takes a construction job. When hanging out with other homeless people he notices that the TV keeps getting interrupted by messages of warning. When he sees the people giving the warning maliciously murdered by police he enters the building, only to find sunglasses. These sunglasses allow him to see what society is really like and that some people are actually aliens. When he looks at money, it says "This is Your God" for instance.
This movie is in many ways like Repo Man. Its anti-consumerism message and alien mixture are definitely similar. In a way (to me at least) this is like Adbusters the Movie. Although though pompous assholes at Adbuster probably are too busy watching bullshit art flicks where people sip tea for two hours to watch something that is both entertaining and meaningful (and has multiple gunshot deaths).
I have been meaning to see this movie for a long time, and it was nothing like I thought. It was much better. If you haven't seen it and are into Repo Man or dystopian-type movies then do yourself a favor and check it out.

Rating Scale Explanation

The rating scale is simple. 1 is the worst 10 is the best and 5 is mediocre. 5.5 or greater is a movie that I at least find enjoyable. You could also think of 5 as a zero and 1 as a negative 5. I feel like that sounds even more convoluted.
