I Love You, Man (2009)

IMDB

Paul Rudd stars as a recently engaged man. His problem is that he doesn't have any friends to ask to be in the wedding party. He goes on a series of "man dates" (I put that in quotes because I'd kill myself before I'd actually say something like that) that go awry. Eventually he meets Jason Segel, who he quickly befriends. They hang out, etc. Sorry, I was getting bored just summarizing the movie.
I found this movie to be mostly unfunny and overly cute. Also, every time anybody talks about this flick they use the word "bromance." This word is vile. The people who use it are in the same league as murderers and rapists, in my opinion. Hyperbole and aside, this movie was a major letdown for me. I was expecting it to be another hilarious Apatow-esque movie, instead I laughed maybe three times (not even big laughs, more like chuckles). A lot of the jokes centered around Lou Ferrigno. If you think mentioning Lou Ferrigno a lot of times is funny, you'll probably love this flick.
People seem to like this movie quite a bit. It's got a 7.5 on IMDB. It made a lot of money. I just don't get it. I guess it's a chick flick/date movie, but my fiance and I both thought it was lame. I'm giving this a slightly higher rating than Reptilicus, and I'm not even sure why. I guess for a comedy it was slightly better than average (a 5 rating from me).

5.5/10

Rating Scale Explanation

The rating scale is simple. 1 is the worst 10 is the best and 5 is mediocre. 5.5 or greater is a movie that I at least find enjoyable. You could also think of 5 as a zero and 1 as a negative 5. I feel like that sounds even more convoluted.
