IMDB

Joey Drayton (Katharine Houghton) and her boyfriend, Dr. John Prentice (Sidney Poitier), pay a visit to her parents to announce their engagement and quick marriage. Her father (Spencer Tracy) is immediately against the marriage based on the difficulties that they'll face. Her mother (Katharine Hepburn) sees that they are deeply in love and is for the marriage.
Joey invites the doctor's parents over for dinner, but they also don't know about the (interracial) circumstances of the engagement. His family reacts pretty similarly upon meeting Joey at the airport.
When they get back to the Drayton's they all have private talks, including a family friend/priest, until give their blessing to the marriage.
An excellent cast carry this movie to greatness. This film is an undeniable classic. Katharine Hepburn is great and one of my favorite actresses and she brings an emotional edge to the flick. Really, everybody is great. I thought this movie was more of a comedy than it was, but it still had its humorous moments. Everybody should see this movie.

Rating Scale Explanation

The rating scale is simple. 1 is the worst 10 is the best and 5 is mediocre. 5.5 or greater is a movie that I at least find enjoyable. You could also think of 5 as a zero and 1 as a negative 5. I feel like that sounds even more convoluted.
