Some US Marines on shore leave in Venice conspire to cheat at roulette using the "electronic brain" Max-- a high tech computer. The Admiral's daughter accidentally walks into their hotel suite, and is very quickly dating and in love with Lt. Fergie Howard (Steve McQueen). A scientist, who is working in tandem with Fergie and doing the number crunching, is rekindling an old romance with an engaged and nearly blind woman.
They use Morse code and signal lights shoot messages and numbers from their ship to their hotel room. This causes some panic among the other Marines, who are not sure what the messages mean. They are under the impression that they're going to get bombed. The Italian government is also worried about the messages, but they are even more worried about the Americans in the casino breaking the bank.
This is a pretty silly screwball comedy. There are some pretty funny moments, but it could have used more. The chaos at toward the end of the movie could have been peppered into the early half to make the flick funnier. Nevertheless, it was a pretty harmless and silly affair.

Rating Scale Explanation

The rating scale is simple. 1 is the worst 10 is the best and 5 is mediocre. 5.5 or greater is a movie that I at least find enjoyable. You could also think of 5 as a zero and 1 as a negative 5. I feel like that sounds even more convoluted.
