IMDB

Last Rites of the Dead presents a lot of interesting ideas, but falls apart hugely in the third act. The film begins with the main woman getting shot by her boyfriend when she breaks up with him. She doesn't stay dead, though.
We cut to a few weeks later and she's going about her regular life. She still goes to work and she's going to a group therapy for zombies, much like AA. I liked the idea of the undead needing time to adjust to their demise. It's an interesting take on zombie flicks.
Then there's this stuff with a zombie cult that is into eating human flesh. Our zombie heroine is not into eating people.
Add to that a crazy woman who leads a group of dicks who like to kill zombies and you just might have too much going on at once. Out of all the different things presented in this movie this is the worst.
A major issue I have with this movie is their very loose interpretation of zombies. A zombie eats human flesh and it takes away their headaches. That makes sense. But why do they have a choice in the first place? What is causing people to turn into zombies? Does everybody who dies turn into a zombie?
Regardless of the issues I am taking with it, it's still a pretty decent low budget horror movie. It is a little long and the action looks mostly bad. The first act is really solid and they should have built off of that instead of adding a cult and a group of zombie killing mercenaries. Worth watching, I guess. If you don't expect too much you could have some fun with it.

Rating Scale Explanation

The rating scale is simple. 1 is the worst 10 is the best and 5 is mediocre. 5.5 or greater is a movie that I at least find enjoyable. You could also think of 5 as a zero and 1 as a negative 5. I feel like that sounds even more convoluted.
