Anvil: The Story of Anvil is a documentary in the style of American Movie and Spinal Tap about the members of a metal band that's been together for 30 years. They are credited with developing the style that Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth went on to use.
They embark on a European tour that turns out mostly to be a bust. It leaves them back in the US pondering where to go next. They contact a former producer who offers to help for a small fee. When they finally raise the money and get it recorded, they get turned down by most record companies. Again, not knowing where they're going, they get a call to play a show in Japan. They get there and find out they're playing at 11:30 AM. They start getting depressed, but are shocked to see thousands of people ready to rock in the audience.
This is a great sensationalized documentary that fans of American Movie and King of Kong will surely love. It's both funny and even heartwarming. You can say what you want about Anvil, but you can't ever say they gave up on their dream. Very inspiring.
