IMDB

A group of fresh-out-of-college friends go through drama. This movie has love triangles, mistaken homosexuality and Demi Moore trying to freeze(?) herself to death.
While I would rather not go too deep into the plot, I will go deep into my feelings about this movie because I'm sensitive. I did not get the sense of nostalgia from this flick that I get from the Breakfast Club, although they are in the same vein. This movie is about yuppies and I'm no yuppie. I wish I had the money to be a yuppie, but I simply do not. Everybody but 10% of your class feels like an outcast, which is why the Breakfast Club a popular movie, yet St. Elmo's Fire just fades into the night.
The only character that is likable is the one portrayed by Ally Sheedy. Emilio Estevez spends the entire movie stalking Andie MacDowell. Judd Nelson is a Deomcrat becoming a Republican in order to advance his career. Demi Moore is a self obsessed drug addict/slut. The characters I didn't mention are even more annoying!
I know that some people consider this to be a classic because it's a Brat Pack movie. I can understand why people would watch this movie. It's just so mediocre and non-offensive (besides the stalking) that people could turn on TNT and end up watching the whole thing without even realizing it. I watched it on Hulu and I feel like there's an hour and 50 minute empty hole in my life now.

5/10

Rating Scale Explanation

The rating scale is simple. 1 is the worst 10 is the best and 5 is mediocre. 5.5 or greater is a movie that I at least find enjoyable. You could also think of 5 as a zero and 1 as a negative 5. I feel like that sounds even more convoluted.
