Barton Fink (1991)
Directed by Joel Coen
Written by Joel Coen and Ethan Coen
IMDB
A successful New York playwrite gets hired to write a B-movie about wrestling. He heads to Hollywood and stations himself in a rundown hotel. His neighbor, a loud and boistrous man (John Goodman) turns out to be a serial killer. Everything is turned upside down for the writer the second he gets to Hollywood.
The first time I watched this movie I liked it, but I didn't love it. This time (my second viewing) I did love it. Hell, I love all of the Coen brothers' movies.
John Tuturo turns in a really excellent performance as Barton Fink. I'm surprised he didn't get an Oscar nomination, but a more minor character did.
I don't really know what the point to this movie is, like many other Coen brothers' movies. Yet, I still loved it. I'll watch it again.
8/10
