Nicolas Cage stars as a man intent on drinking himself to death. He moves to Vegas from LA because he can get booze any time. He meets a prostitute played by Elizabeth Shue, who wants to save him. She latches onto him because he's the only person in a worse place than her.
While this movie is depressing in a Requiem for a Dream type of way, it does have a bit of humor brought on by Nicolas Cage's excellent over-the-top performance. Elizabeth Shue also turns in a great performance, although she is far too beautiful to be a prostitute.
This is a very low budget, indie looking film. I think it works though, because it puts the main two actors' performances in the foreground.
