Bad Lieutenant (1992)

Labels: ,

Directed by Abel Ferrara
Written by Victor Argo, Paul Calderon, Abel Ferrara and Zoë Lund
IMDB

Harvey Keitel is the titular bad lieutenant, who is a drug addict and gambler. The film centers around a nun who is raped by a couple of guys and Keitel feeling bad about it when he's not forcing women to blow him for driving without a license and doing cocaine.
I watched this movie solely because I want to watch the new one with Nicolas Cage. After seeing this, I think Cage probably channeled Keitel's performance in this a little for his role in Leaving Las Vegas.
I really did like this movie quite a bit but it's a bit hard to watch. It's pretty intense and Keitel's character is a scumbag. Plus, I don't like seeing people get raped in movies, not even nuns!

Rating Scale Explanation

The rating scale is simple. 1 is the worst 10 is the best and 5 is mediocre. 5.5 or greater is a movie that I at least find enjoyable. You could also think of 5 as a zero and 1 as a negative 5. I feel like that sounds even more convoluted.
