Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan are a cops who get suspended for letting a drug lord get the best of them and kill a witness. Soon after Bruce Willis gets robbed of his $80,000 baseball card and they have to get it back in order for Willis to pay for his daughter's wedding. Somehow that is connected to the drug lord, who would have thunk it?
This is just another buddy cop action/comedy in the vein of Bullet Proof (but not as fun). Some of this movie is really funny, but much of it falls flat. Kevin Smith cannot direct action very well. He's more of a minimalist director, which is respectable. He bites off more than he can chew (if that's possible! -- Sorry for the fat joke) with this movie.
I am a fan of Kevin Smith and buddy action movies, but I didn't get into this one as much as I expected. There are a few scenes that are so funny though, all involving Tracy Morgan (probably improvising).
While I'm only going to give this movie a 6, although a 5.5 might be easier for me to live with, I did find it mostly entertaining. Plenty of plot holes and an idiotic plot to begin with drag this movie down bit time.
