Antoine is a bit of a troublemaker, sort of along the lines of Dennis the Menace. Everybody comes down hard on him, smacking him and such. Eventually, he decides to run away from home. His parents show up the next day when he's at school and treat him nice for about fifteen minutes. Then he steals a typewriter and goes to jail. I assume he dies in jail after the movie ends.
Obviously this is a classic. A great film that conveys perfectly a young boy (maybe 12-ish) who gets no attention in his home life and has a teacher who treats him like garbage (and all of the other students as well). There isn't much in terms of plot, this is a movie about feeling not about a story. For fans of French cinema this is a must-see. This would also be good for cultured teens.
