A barrel containing a zombie rolls off of an Army truck. Three kids find it and break it open after one of the kids runs home. The zombie plague spreads like, well, a plague. The kid who ran away, his sister and the cable guy run from and fight zombies.
Return of the Living Dead is a straight faced parody of zombie movie in a way, but it definitely is still trying to be scary, and it is! This movie features a ton of zombies. Lots of gore, too. They spend a lot of the movie running from zombies, which is fine. I prefer barricading yourself into a central location and fighting the zombies off from there, but it's not a necessity. They do find there way to a hospital and spend a decent amount of time there, but it would have been great if they spent more time there. I guess it could have slowed the movie down. Just imagine all of the amazing zombie deaths that could take place in a hospital. It would be glorious.
This was a good movie. I was not expecting much, since it's a sequel and I have no heard good things about the Return of the Living Dead sequels. Zombie movies are some of the only horror movies my girlfriend will watch, so it's why I went with this over movies that would have potentially better. I am glad that I did, because this is well worth watching.
