Bridesmaids (2011)
Directed by Paul Feig
Written by Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo
IMDB
Kristen Wiig's life is starting to fall apart. Her best friend (Maya Rudolph) is getting married and Wiig is the maid of honor. Rudolph's other friend, the wife of her fiance's boss, Helen, is making a move to be Rudolph's best friend, which is aided by Wiig's catastrophic life.
If you have been reading my entertainment article over on One Year in Texas, then you'll know that I have been wanting to see this for a while, but also have a hard time parting with nearly $10 to see a movie one time. The opportunity finally presented itself when my pal, Beth, wanted to see it while my wife was out of town. We went and it was enjoyable.
Wiig was great and is probably going to be a pretty big star now. I'm not saying she wasn't already near that level, but she's gone very mainstream and I'm for it. I like Kristen Wiig. I never watch SNL, not for a very long time, so I'm not familiar with any of her work there, but I know her from the odd movie she stars in and find her very funny. A lot of the people in this movie are great. Roy from "The IT Crowd" has a pretty big part in this, and that's pretty cool!
Yeah, if you haven't seen this, do so. It's quality. "The Hangover" was fun, but this is actually good. It has heart, where "The Hangover" just had grossout humor and shocking moments. This has that, too, but it also has some emotional moments and can be related to.
