From Dusk Til Dawn (1996)
Directed by Robert Rodriguez
Written by Quentin Tarantino
IMDB
This movie can be split into two halves and seem like completely different films. Tarantino and George Clooney are thiefs/killers on their way to rendezvous in Mexico with Cheech, who is paying them to do a job. They end up kidnapping Harvey Keitel and his two children (Juliette Lewis and Ernest Liu). They make their way to Mexico and go to the strip club they're supposed to meet up at. Then fucking vampires start attacking.
There is some weirdness in this movie for a Tarantino script, by which I mean one liners. The gore is off-the-charts, though. Rodriguez was probably the right choice to handle this movie, as he's a fantastic action director.
This flick is definitely uneven. In the past, that's what held me back from fully enjoying it, but I have come around on it. It's fun and silly. The vampire fighting is pretty awesome and the first half of the movie could have went into a different sort of movie for sure.
7/10
