Bob Le Flambeur (1956)

Labels: ,
Directed by Jean-Pierre Melville
Written by Auguste Le Breton and Jean-Pierre Melville
IMDB

Bob the Gambler is notorious for, of all things, gambling.  When he was younger he was arrested for a bank heist.  When he hears that a casino will have 800 Million francs in their safe during the Grand Prix, he cannot help himself and orchestrates a heist.
Very well made, but not like heist movies of today.  It’s not as slick, but it’s still slick, especially for a movie made in 1956.  I could not imagine this movie being in color.  The black & white gives it a grittiness and a slickness that it would not have otherwise.  A very good movie.

Rating Scale Explanation

The rating scale is simple. 1 is the worst 10 is the best and 5 is mediocre. 5.5 or greater is a movie that I at least find enjoyable. You could also think of 5 as a zero and 1 as a negative 5. I feel like that sounds even more convoluted.
