When billionaire playboy and weapon manufacturer Tony Starks goes to Afghanistan to give a demonstration of their new missile he is kidnapped by terrorists who force him to make a missile for them. With the materials provided he, instead, makes a prototype iron man suit.
Once he escapes and is back in America he enters into a moral dilemma over making weapons. To solve his dilemma he makes a new better iron man suit. Soon he learns that some people working for him aren't as trustworthy as they seemed.
The reason this movie is great and different from other super hero movies is that it's more of a character study of Tony Starks than it is hero vs. villain. In fact if there were anything I hold against it is that there is really a main villain. Sure, there's terrorists and a climatic fight against a suped up iron man suit. Ah, but then there's going to be a sequel so who cares.
