Steve Martin stars as C.D., a man with a very large nose. He falls in love with a woman new to their town, played by Daryl Hannah (at her hottest). C.D. is the fire marshall, and his firemen are terrible. They are joined by a new guy, who Daryl Hannah is instantly attracted to. Feeling that he can never have her, C.D. decides to help this guy win Daryl Hannah over. This guy is really dumb and feels like he can't talk to her, so C.D. speaks for him. This is a modernized telling of Cyrano de Bergerac.
This movie is great, although it gets a little schmaltzy at times. The music takes a point away, as it is terrible 80s muzak, the kind you would hear in the theater back in the day. I kept waiting for an actor's name to appear on the screen jumbled up, yet it never happened. All kidding aside, this was a fun and really funny movie. I am a pretty big Steve Martin fan, and this is definitely his movie. It's more romantic than some of his previous efforts, but the wacky comedy still remains.
7.5/10
