IMDB

Bobcat Goldthwait writes, directs and stars as Shakes, an alcoholic clown framed for the murder of his role model. Tom Kenny plays Binky, a coked up clown who hosts a kids show. Binky kills Shakes' friend when he gets caught doing coke by him. He frames shakes so he can get close to Shakes' speech impediment having girlfriend.
Shakes is another movie I used to watch a bunch when I was a kid. It's definitely not a kids movie, but for some reason I was allowed to watch it. Probably because my cousin told my dad they only said 'fuck' two or three times, when in reality it's over 30 (my Dad counted). I have a place in my heart for Shakes.
The movie itself isn't that bad. It's pretty dark, and is mostly set in a clown bar. Bobcat does a good job directing and brings a lot of big name comedians into the fold (Adam Sandler, Tom Kenny, Robin Williams). In fact, Robin Williams is really funny as Mime Jerry, and I usually find Williams to be deplorable in most films. Sandler is also funny, which isn't that surprising. What is surprising is the lack of cult status for this movie. It's definitely worth a viewing for anybody who hasn't seen it, especially if you like dark comedies.

Rating Scale Explanation

The rating scale is simple. 1 is the worst 10 is the best and 5 is mediocre. 5.5 or greater is a movie that I at least find enjoyable. You could also think of 5 as a zero and 1 as a negative 5. I feel like that sounds even more convoluted.
