IMDB
Along with Quentin Tarrantino, then Coen brothers are my favorite modern American filmmakers. While they both usually focus on stories involving crimes, the Coens offer a wider range of genres and tone in their different films.
O Brother, Where Art Thou? is the fantastic, fairytale about three escaped convicts who get saved and become a huge musical sensation while on the lam. This film really highlights the huge difference in getting information now as compared to 100 years ago. These three guys quickly stop into a recording studio to record a song, and without knowing it they become a huge hit. Now you can just get a Google alert for "Do I have a huge hit song?" and you'll know instantly.
They say this movie is based on the Odyssey, but I've never read all of it so I wouldn't know anything about that. I will definitely be watching this movie several more times.
10/10
