IMDB
Seth Rogen plays a struggling young comic living with his more successful friends. Adam Sandler plays a comedian/actor (basically himself) who has just found out he is dying. Sandler goes on before Rogen at a comedy club and does a really dark set. Rogen goes up after him and makes jokes about him. The next day, Sandler asks Rogen to be his assistant and to write jokes for him. They grow close as Sandler's disease grows worse. When his disease goes into remission Rogen is afraid that Sandler learned nothing from his near death experience when he starts chasing a married woman.
I loved this film. I read a lot of reviews that said Eric Bana ruins this movie, but I disagree. Sure, this movie was nearly an hour too long, but Bana was fine. Better than he was in that shitty Hulk movie.
Seth Rogen continues his streak of good movies. There's a lot of great clips of stand up, and if you're a fan of comedy there's no reason not to watch this film. Apatow knows how to ride the line of drama and comedy without letting shit get too serious. It's the same way a lot of the classics are made. Apatow is making classics right now.
