IMDB
When going over the books at an insurance company Richard and Larry discover a case of insurance fraud. Unfortunately, it's their mob-tied boss who was committing this fraud. He invites them to his place on Hampton Island, and plans on killing them when they get there. The mob is unhappy with Bernie's increasing paranoia and has him killed.
Rich and Larry get to Bernie's and find him dead with drugs in his pocket. As they're about to call the police a party wanders into Bernie's and nobody notices he's dead. Larry wants to play it up so they can continue to stay there. Rich is totally against it until his crush shows up.
With Bernie dead and hard partying going on, the duo treat him like a puppet. Their brilliant plan gets noticed by the mafia hitman, who thinks Bernie is still alive. Now Larry and Rich have to fend off a mafia hitman while pretending Bernie is still alive. What a crazy decade the 1980s were.
While this movie is stupid and outlandish, it is funny. Sure, I could rip it apart and call it stupid, juvenile, etc. Sometimes that's the kind of movie you want to watch. There's no shame in it. Usually the dumbest movies are the ones that make the most money. Look at Adam Sandler's filmography.
If you're looking for a dumb sex comedy that involves treating a corpse like a puppet, you could do a lot worse than Weekend at Bernie's. It's silly, fun and completely unfounded in reality.
8/10 (Yeah, it's dumb but it's fun. It's better than Home Alone.)
