IMDB

Based on the novel by Émile Zola, this noir focuses on a miserable married woman who begins to have an affair with a truck driver. When her husband finds out he suggests a trip to Paris. On the train, the woman's lover shows up and tosses the husband off, killing him. Then a fellow passanger blackmails them.
What brought me into watching this film was Netflix describing it as a "smoldering film noir." How could I pass that up? What this film has over many other film noirs that I've seen is that it has personality and no "hard-nosed" detectives.
The female lead, Simone Signoret, is amazing. She is beautiful and manages to show almost no joy the entire movie. You truly feel that the Mrs. Raquin is truly miserable in her life.
I would definitely recommend this movie if you are up for a crime film or a noir. It is pretty serious, but the first half isn't without humor and it is definitely an ironic tale. I suppose it is a moral tale, but I was really rooting for Mrs. Raquin.

Rating Scale Explanation

The rating scale is simple. 1 is the worst 10 is the best and 5 is mediocre. 5.5 or greater is a movie that I at least find enjoyable. You could also think of 5 as a zero and 1 as a negative 5. I feel like that sounds even more convoluted.
