When the mother of twins dies, her will has her children looking for their long lost brother and father and to deliver letters to them.  We see her daughter, Jeanne (Melissa Desormeaux-Poulin), trying to seek out the truth about her mother’s tangled past (which involves war, murder, imprisonment, rape, and all sorts of other crazy shit).  Her brother initially finds this to be stupid and wants nothing to do with it, but eventually is dragged into it.
A very beautifully made film with amazing performances from Lubna Azabal and Melissa Desormeaux-Poulin.  The mystery aspect of the movie plays out in a similar way to that of “Winter’s Bone,” although not as Film Noir.  The twists are pretty crazy and do not ruin the movie, rather they make it better, which is rare.  A powerful film.

Rating Scale Explanation

The rating scale is simple. 1 is the worst 10 is the best and 5 is mediocre. 5.5 or greater is a movie that I at least find enjoyable. You could also think of 5 as a zero and 1 as a negative 5. I feel like that sounds even more convoluted.
